Notes:
1. Den leaders must first file a local tour permit to the scout office (B.S.A., Okaw
Valley Council, 1801 North 17th Street, Belleville, IL 62226; 234-9111) two weeks prior to
the field trip. For a faster turn around include a SASE.
2. Always send a thank you note after the trip is complete. Mail within 5 working days.
3. Contact scouts 3-5 days prior to the trip to remind them of the date, time, location to
meet, money to bring, and other requirements.
4. Always wear scout uniform on trips unless conditions prohibit.
5. Have plenty of adults to maintain order.
6. Read the Guide
to Safe Scouting before the trip.
7. Lunch at Pizza Hut in O'Fallon in conjunction with a trip is a nice touch.
8. Please add to this list by contacting the Pack 47 committee chair or secretary or the webmaster.
9. There are many other great field trip ideas-the zoo, Science Center, Magic House (they
have scout programs), Six Flags, Cahokia Mounds, etc. Be creative!
10. A good technique to keep your scouts going to den meetings is to combine field trips
with den meetings!
11. The O'Fallon Progress likes to publish pictures of out scouts. Simply mail them a
picture with a brief description.
