- Preparation Required
- Reserve campsites – call St.
Charles County Parks (636-949-7535) for reservations; you can
reserve sites up to a year in advance, so call early.
- See the St. Charles County website
(http://www.saintcharlescounty.org) for more information about the
park (“Parks & Recreation” section under the “Departments”
heading).
- Plan the agenda and activities that
will be done during the campout.
- Coordinator(s) should visit the park
to finalize the plans for the event and to become familiar with
the facilities.
- The Leader “in charge” of the
campout must have taken the Leader Outdoor Experience training,
and must review the Guide To Safe Scouting prior to the campout.
- At least one Leader (and preferably
all Leaders) must have taken the Youth Protection training within
the previous two years.
- At least one person camping must
have current certification in CRP (preferably a nurse, doctor, EMT
or fireman), and should be designated as the “camp medical
officer” during the campout.
- Each person camping must fill out a
Class I Medical Form, and they need to be “on file” at the
campsite (the “camp medical officer” should know where they’re
it and have easy access to them).
- Update the “Pack Campout”
information packet from the previous year.
- Update the “pack_calendar.htm”
page on the Pack 30 Website.

- Notes
- Try to plan most of the activities
for Saturday (start at about noon).
- Remind parents to bring firewood,
and to be prepared for the weather (it will get pretty cold at
night in mid-October).
- A “Local Tour Permit” is not
required as long as the campout is at a Scout-approved facility
and within the Council boundaries.
- Remind Leaders that “two-deep
leadership” and Youth Protection Guidelines are in effect during
the campout.
- Notes for Next Year:
- Investigate a larger area -- check
Cuivre River & Babler State Parks - how far is parking from
the camp site? - how far are the rest rooms and shower house?
