Medical Forms -- all Scouts and Adults must
have the following Medical Forms filled out and with them when they arrive at
camp:
- Scouts: Class
II Medical Form (signed by a doctor) -- it's good for 3 years (cannot be
dated more than 3 years from the last day of camp), but must be accompanied
by a Class
I Medical Form (signed by parent) if the Class II Form is more than 1
year old.
- Adult Leaders Under 40: same as for
the Scouts.
- Adult Leaders 40 & Older: Class
III Medical Form (signed by a doctor), and it must be done yearly.
- "Visiting Leader" -- defined as an
Adult that spends less than 72 hours at camp: Class
I Medical Form (signed by the Adult). However, the Visiting Leader
cannot swim at camp (if you want to swim, you have to follow the "Adult
Leader" guidelines).
Two-Deep Leadership:
Each Pack is responsible for the leadership of their own Scouts. We
must have at least one Adult older than 21 in camp at all times.
The Boy Scouts of America (and Cub Scouts) uses a
Leadership Policy called "Two-Deep Leadership", which means there
should always be a minimum of two adults and two Scouts together.
In other words, an Adult should never be alone with Scouts, except a
parent/guardian with their own son.
This policy is in effect at Webelos Camp. However,
since each Pack shares a campsite with other Packs, the entire campsite is
considered as one "pack" and "group leadership" is allowed.
Leader's Guide -- all Adults that will be attending
Webelos Camp should review the following Leader's Guide prior to attending camp
(click on the link to open and view the document, right-click it to download it
to your PC): Webelos
Camp Leaders Guide (2008).
Additional Information -- for additional
information about Webelos Camp, see the St. Louis Area Council's website (Cub
Scout Summer Camp page) at http://www.stlbsa.org/Camping/Summer+Camps/Cub+Scouts/
Parent Notes:
- Accommodations: Den will pitch camp-supplied tents (but
it is OK to bring your own tent if you wish)
- We must carry our gear from the parking area to our
campsites -- a Red Wagon is good to have, it can be a pretty long walk
- Be prepared for Raccoons in our campsite -- don't leave
any food inside your tent
- See Suggested
Equipment List (page 14 in the Leaders Guide)
- The Pack will cook our own meals for Wednesday dinner
& Thursday lunch -- see the Webelos Camp Leader's Guide for a suggested
list of items to bring
- Discipline is the Pack Adult's responsibility (not the
camps staff's)
- There is a structured program (see Webelos Camp
Leader's Guide for a sample schedule), but the Pack will also have some free
time to work on Webelos Activity Badges
