Orienteering

Orienteering is the use of maps, compass and other tools to find ones way in an unfamiliar area. Plotting a course and correctly following it to a specific destination could be lifesaving in some areas under severe conditions. These skills are particularly helpful when hiking in a large wooded area. It is very easy to become lost or disoriented. By using a compass to find the way of north, south, east or west, you can know in which direction that you are headed and which direction is needed to return safely. Orienteering Merit Badge is a rewarding and useful award. It can serve you throughout life.

The requirements are listed in the Orienteering Merit Badge Book.
