CHAIRMAN NO REPORT
SCOUTMASTER - Pops Griffin reported:
5 new Scouts from Pack #252 held their Cross Over ceremony at the cabin on March, 12 th and are now the newest members of the Troop.
Neckerchiefs and tee-shirts need to be ordered from Howetts; minimum order of 50.
(Thursday evening (March 26th) a box of both neckerchiefs and tee-shirts were discovered in the storage closet at the cabin. These were distributed to the new scouts that evening).
Books 10 books needed; Jim George to pickup from Council.
Christmas Tree Sales totals are as follows:
Gross $4,677.00
Troop Costs $2,614.52
Net $2,062.48
The breakdown of Net ($2,062.48) was debated and the Committee came to an agreement of a 70/30 split; $1,443.74 split between Scouts based on hours worked and $618.74 to Troop.
Upcoming Events include:
ADVANCEMENT Jim George reported:
Kurt Russell Eagle Board of Review was held on Wednesday, March 11th which a Kurt; John Grim commented that it went very well. Jim will send application up to Council to complete the process.
No Boards of Review are scheduled for April
New Leadership for the troop was announced.
Adults need to encourage and support all new elects in Troop Leadership.
OUTDOORS - Ray Ramberger reported:
March 13th 15th : Gettysburg Trip went very well. All Scouts earned the Gettysburg Patch plus all 4 segments!
Upcoming Activities:
April 17th 19th : Canoe Trip to Pequea, Pa which Jim George is handling. Tour permit in needs to be completed and filed with Council.
May 1st 3rd : French Creek / Orienteering
June 4th : End of year picninc @ Georges; details to follow
June TBA : OARA work weekend
July 12th 19th : BSA Summer Camp
August 13th 19th : Sea Base, Becky George to handle
August ?: Activity for the scouts who are ineligible to participate in Sea Base High Adventure. Circle M was suggested by Jim Jordan.
EQUIPMENT Brian Urig reported:
Update on canoe trailer which need to be handled before the canoe trip scheduled in April. Pickup from Vo-Tech in Wilmington, title transfer and inspection still needs to be handled by Pops Griffin and future re-paint/wrap was discussed.
FUNDRAISING Ben Jackson reported:
Scouts Honor Card: monies or cards are due to Ben Jackson on Thursday, March 26th.
Discussed future Troop needs for fundraising. It was suggested that Troop take over sale of wreaths for Veteran graves in Oxford (formally handled by Pack 252). Committee feels the Troop account is fully funded for 2009. Fundraising efforts would be to benefit the Scouts for the remainder of the year.
Ray Ramberger and Matt DAntonio discussed Spring Mulch Sale. Jon Hoover revamped the order form, which was distributed to the Committee members. Both bulk and bagged mulch will be available. Bulk orders would still be handled by Ray Ramberger for delivery; Scouts will earn $5.00/yard. Bagged mulch will require that Scouts to "bag their own" orders and deliver to customers; Scouts will earn $1.70/bag. Bagged orders will be ongoing; minimum on bulk mulch was discussed.
TREASURER Kelly Vining reported:
High Adventure Account was discussed. This account was opened with a donation from Ken Arne many years ago and has never been used. It was decided by the Committee to give every Scout attending a High Adventure trip to Sea Base this year $121.00, and close out this account.
SECRETARY Becky George reported:
Banquet went well and proceeds were as follows:
Expenses $852.23
Proceeds $302.00
Net ($550.23)
OLD BUSINESS / NEW BUSINESS
Mark Vining and Jim George will handle the transfer of the Oxford Fire Hall sign to Troop #13.
On a motion by Pops Griffin, seconded by Committee, the meeting was adjourned @ 9:00 p.m. by a unanimous vote.
Next meeting will be held on Tuesday April 28th, 2009 @ 7:00 pm.
