Troop 13 COMMITTEE MINUTES April 23, 2007
Meeting was called to order by Ed Hook. Others present were: Joanne Bagley, Jim and Becky George, Pops Griffin, Larry Groseclose, Nadine Hook, Jon Hoover, Rick Micolucci, Ray and Tammy Ramberger and Mark Vining.
SCOUTMASTER - Pops reported:
Three new scouts have joined the Troop from Pack 272 (2) and Pack 252 (1).
There are a few opportunities for Scouts to earn Service Time color code new fire hydrant; work available at Fire House including upcoming Parade in September paint fire trucks/fire hall walls; Cemetery in Nottingham.
Upcoming Events include:
- April 26th Fulton Bank
- May Meetings to be held @ Upper Oxford Park, Class "C" uniforms.
- May 19 Chix BBQ
Next PLC meeting may 1st, 2007 @ the Hoovers (7pm).
Scheduled Board of Reviews: A 2nd Class Scout to 1st Class on May
3rd
OUTDOORS Ray reported:
Upcoming Trips include:
- March 31 Shotgun Shoot @ Oxford Gun Club (10am). (Daytrip) 10 Noon
- April 2729 OA Weekend
- May 46 MANDITORY Philmont Shakedown Weekend
- May 11-13 Clearing the OACR grounds. Tammy to handle permission slips.
- June 15-16 Fishing trip, Rock Hall, MD w/ Gunsmoke Charters.
Jim George to handle insurance. Tammy to handle permission slips.
- July 620 Philmont medical forms need to be returned to council.

July 8-14 Summer Camp: Mark Vining to bring down trailer, Larry Groseclose for additional support.
- August 1719 Raystown Lake
Tammy announced (again) that all drivers need to supply troop w/ drivers license #, Insurance Co. name/coverage amount, car make/model, year, etc.
Discussion regarding permission slips and Scouts taking a more active role in activity planning/trip coordinating next year. It was agreed that the slips need to be distributed/returned two weeks prior to trips; discussed how to handle trip planning.
ADVANCEMENT Jim reported:
- Need Blue Cards from Council.
- Partial merit badges were discussed.
- Eagle Advisor John Grim; New District Eagle Advisor Tom Murphy
- Life Scouts from Troop 13 were named to the following leadership positions:
Quartermaster, Troop Guide, Troop Scribe and Chaplin's Aide.
Q: Joanne asked for updated roster Jim to distribute as soon as he receives all applications, etc.
EQUIPMENT - Larry reported:
- Troop is in good shape.
- Need to recheck tents; perhaps purchase new smaller tents.
- Larry spoke to a salesperson in Cabellas regarding "A-frame" tents for Philmont. Mark to "paraphrase" conversation and email to Adult Philmont leaders.
- Need to order one backpacking stove for Philmont.
- To purchase clay targets @ Oxford Gun Club the day of Shotgun Shoot. Hand thrower was discussed.
TREASURER Kelly reported:
- Reformat the money collection envelopes to contact J.B. Jones for information.
- Checkbook signature card was taken care of @ bank.
- Discussion of Scouts and Adult Leaders with negative balances in accounts.
- New, updated passbook accounts to distribute Thursday evening.
- Spring Chix BBQ profit of sales to Scouts (who sold tickets). Fall Chix BBQ profit of sales to Troop.
- A Scout held a Battle of the Bands for Senior Project and donated $465 to
Troop. Need to send letter of thanks and certificate. To acknowledge at picnic.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Jon reported:
- Continues to post new photos from past scouting events on the website.
SECRETARY - Becky reported:
- To coordinate Chix BBQ sales money and tickets; Nadine to order chickens and pickup groceries; Mason-Dixon Mechanical to donate sodas (Jim to handle); Herrs to donate chips (Pops to handle); Tammy to coordinate desserts; Cheryl Russell to donate plastic ware and napkins; Camerons to donate charcoal (Larry to handle).
- Thank you notes were sent to: Acme for donating 2 cases of water for Ski Trip, Donald Watterson/Deaver Memorials and Phyllis Deaver.
- Upper Oxford Park is secured for all May meetings and June 7th picnic.
OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

Thursday, June 7th - Troop End of Year picnic will be held from 6pm 8pm @ Upper Oxford Park. Becky George/Secretary to make up "flyer" and signup sheet for number attending and covered dish. Coordinated by Nadine Hook and Kelly Vining.
- Need to get new parents more active and encourage attendance at Committee Meetings. Suggested info to be added to end of picnic "flyer".
- Saturday, June 9th Grange Chix BBQ; Approximately 4-6 scouts needed to help from 9 11 packing lunches.
Next meeting will be held on May 29th, 2007 @ 7:00.
