COMMITTEE MINUTES
JANUARY 9, 2007
Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Ed Hook. Others present were: Joanne Bagley, Becky George, Jim George, Pops Griffin, Larry Groseclose, Nadine Hook, Ryan Hook, Jon Hoover, Rick Micolucci, Ray Ramberger and Tammy Ramberger.
SCOUTMASTER - Pops reported:
Klondike Derby scheduled for January 19th 21st @ Camp Ware. He needs adult help. Tour permit is secured. Scouts are scheduled to finish sleds @ the cabin.
Meeting agenda for January:
11th Printing/Graphic Arts merit badge work w/ Jon Hoover; menu for Klondike Derby.
18th Finish building sleds for Klondike Derby competition.
25th Fire Safety merit badge work w/ Mark Vining (if available) OR Police Safety merit badge work for younger Scouts; Woodworking merit badge work w/ Mr. Morgan.
Next PLC meeting February 6th, 2007 @ the Rambergers (7pm).
OUTDOORS Ray reported:
Upcoming trips:
January 19-21 Klondike Derby will be an overnight trip (January 19th 21st). Scouts are currently working on two sleds for competition.
February 9-11 Ski trip (w/out Girl Scouts) to either Camelback or Jack Frost, whichever is closer and has snow. Camp Helcoski cabins have been reserved for the Troop which sleeps a total of 24 for $225.00/weekend.
April Possibly moving shotgun (originally scheduled for May 11-12) to April. To also include camping at and clearing the OACR grounds. Tammy Ramberger will call Frank Spohr regarding possible Eagle Projects and permission for April.
ADVANCEMENT - Joanne reported:
Boards of Review
To date, successful BORs have been conducted for the following scouts:
One Scout Tenderfoot
One Scout 2nd Class
One Scout Life
Upcoming Board of Reviews were discussed and approved for:
One Scout(who was out of uniform @ last scheduled BOR) Tenderfoot
One Scout- Tenderfoot
One Scout 2nd Class
One Scout 2nd Class
It was discussed that since the last Tuesday of every month is (typically) our Committee Meeting, we will discuss and approve BORs for the first Thursday of every month. This will assure that BORs are conducted regularly and qualified adults will be available to sit on the Boards.
Restructuring within the leadership of Troop 13:
Committeee Membership to include Becky George, Jim George and JB Jones
Assistant Scoutmasters: Ray Ramberger and Larry Groseclose
Scoutmaster: Ron "Pops" Griffin
Active Status was discussed 6 months prior to BOR, as Scout will be considered "Active" if he has attended 2 meetings/month + Activity/Community Service OR 3 meetings/month + Community Service. A phone call to the Scoutmaster would suffice for approved "miss" of meeting.
EQUIPMENT - Larry reported:Propane bottle is full; Jon Hoover has a neighbor who would like to donate a _ full propane bottle (w/ an old fitting) to the Troop.
Pops to replace knob on stove.
TREASURER - Rick reported:
Philmont 2007 payments for January are due on 1/20, so he would need to receive them by 1/14.
Books for 2006 are up to date and balanced w/ the exception of outstanding 2006 summer camp money due from Name withheld. Jim George spoke with a Scout regarding Philmont, and he is not interested in attending.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Jon reported:
Continues to post numerous new photos from past scouting events on the website.
SECRETARY - Becky reported:
Invitations to 2007 Banquet should be mailed out by February 1st. Nadine Hook (former secretary) to help with the mailing of invitations. RSVP to Nadine by February 22nd.
OLD BUSINESS - Spring banquet to be held on March 3, 2007 at 6pm at the Russellville Grange. Menu was discussed and decided.
NEW BUSINESS Jim George volunteered to take over as Advancement Counselor; Joanne Bagley stepped down.
Next meeting will be held on February 27th, 2007 @ 7:00.
