SCOUTMASTER - Pops Griffin reported:
Leadership in the Troop must improve.
From last months minutes: Adults need to encourage and support all new elects in Troop Leadership. Youth Leadership Training was discussed and it was agreed that this has been overlooked by the Troop and must be required of all Scouts in current leadership roles within the Troop. Training weekends are available in May.
Troop missed opportunity for Leadership Training through Council (offered in May 2009), but Committee agreed that "Leadership Training" should be presented to the Scouts during a meeting early this Fall. Ben Jackson volunteered to put together a presentation.
Additional discussion was led by John Grim regarding Parent disciplining his/her own Scout on trips, during meetings, etc which should be avoided.
It was also agreed that Scouts in Leadership positions should be given and explained the "duties" of each position, i.e.: SPL, ASPL, Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Quartermaster, etc. Pops volunteered to acquire and distribute that information to all Scouts, presently in those roles and for future appointees.
Upcoming Events include:

EQUIPMENT Brian Urig reported (via email message as read by Becky George):
1. I will not be able to attend. Just would like to report the equipment trailer is painted - $1000 was the final price. I made a few calls for lettering but no one has returned my calls. Pops and I plan to remake the shelving in the trailer during summer camp about $250 or so I am thinking.
2. We are starting pavilion construction at the park Thursday. Putting in the footings. This will cost about $300 or so. I spoke to Pops regarding this.
3. It is my suggestion that we set aside some money from next years xmas trees for the canoe trailer to be painted. It will be about $700-$1000 too.
4. I put Jim in contact with the vo-tech for a storage box. Any progress there? Jim faxed the drawing to vo-tech on 5/26/09.
