COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR BSA TROOP #13 OF OXFORD, PENNSYLVANIA

The regular meeting of the Committee Members was held on Tuesday November 27th, 2009, at the Oxford Fire Hall (Board Room). The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by Bill Day, Chairman.

SPECIAL GUEST:

Michelle Hoover, Venturing Crew 114 President

CHAIRMAN — Bill Day reported:

Special Guest, Michelle Hoover was introduced to the Committee. Ms. Hoover spoke with the Committee members about Venturing Crew 114 and requested to present same to Troop #13 Scouts on December 10th which was agreed upon by the Committee. Upcoming winter camping trip, the 2010 Pilgrimage and Encampment at Valley Forge Historic Park will be held the weekend of February 12-14, 2010. Event will be open to Scouts 8th grade and older and are encouraged to attend.

Christmas Tree Sale

SCOUTMASTER - Pops Griffin reported:

Rifle weekend had some "issues" with certain Scouts, which were addressed by Pops and other adult leaders.

2010 Troop Recharting has been completed by Matt D’Antonio and Kelly Vining. Matt was issued a check from the Troop for the full amount. He will meet with David Trainor on December 10th for required Charter Ogranization signature (Oxford Rotary Club) and it will then be turned into Council before the due date!

January 29th — 31st : Klondike Derby (no tour permit needed) NEED PARENTS HELP with food prep, sales and cleanup!

February: Ski Trip (Mark Vining)

March: Rock Climbing

March: Spring Court of Honor and Awards Banquet

April: Canoe Trip (Jim George)

April 30th — May 2nd : French Creek Orienteering w/ Girl Scouts (Nathan Ramberger / Ray Ramberger)

May 31st : Oxford Memorial Day Parade

June : End of year picnic

July 11th — 18th : BSA Summer Camp

ADVANCEMENT — Becky George REPORTED (Jim George absent):

Monthly Board of Reviews are scheduled for the following Scouts (December 3rd):

Two First Class Scouts — Star Scout

One Scout - Tenderfoot

EQUIPMENT — Brian Urig absent/NO REPORT

Upcoming Troop expenses include:

  1. Tents (purchase new to replace damaged tents)
  2. Canoe trailer repairs (needed before Canoe Trip scheduled April 2010)

FUNDRAISING — Ben Jackson reported:

Wreath’s Across America (for American Veteran’s) - low response

Upcoming Klondike Derby: food sales will generate funds for the Troop

Discussion included various fundraisers for Spring/Summer 2010 including: Car show, selling pretzels/sodas at Wal-Mart?

Ben suggested a "Quarterly Fundraising Events Calendar" for planning and budgeting purposes. Once fundraisers are agreed upon and scheduled for the quarter/year, Ben will create a document to be distributed to all Scouts and parents.

PUBLIC RELATIONS — Jon Hoover reported:

More photos posted to website from Rifle weekend + Christmas Tree Sales

Jon sent news releases to various papers around the community to publicize the Christmas Tree Sale at no cost to the Troop

SECRETARY Becky George reported:

Armstrong Ad was placed on November 19th to run from November 22nd thru December 20th . Cost to Troop was $75.00.

On a motion by Bill Day, seconded by Committee, the meeting was adjourned @ 9:10.m. By a unanimous vote.
